Job DescriptionSalary: $17.50 to start, once certified increase to $18.00 per hour
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide Peer-Based Support: Use personal experience with mental health and/or substance use
recovery to support, mentor, and guide individuals through their recovery journey in a respectful
and empowering manner. - Build Trusting Relationships: Establish and maintain supportive, non-judgmental relationships
with peers based on mutual respect, shared lived experience, and cultural sensitivity. - Promote Recovery-Oriented Practices: Encourage self-advocacy, self-determination, personal
responsibility, and resiliency in all interactions, aligning with recovery principles and trauma-
informed care. - Facilitate Individual and Group Sessions: Lead or co-facilitate structured peer support groups,
wellness activities, and individual meetings, focusing on recovery goals and wellness strategies. - Assist with Navigation of Services: Support peers in identifying, accessing, and utilizing
community resources including treatment programs, housing, employment, education,
transportation, healthcare others as necessary. - Document Services: Maintain timely and accurate documentation of peer interactions, service
goals, and progress in accordance with organizational policies, confidentiality laws, and funding
requirements. - Participate in Team Collaboration: Attend and actively contribute to staff meetings, supervision
sessions, training events, and interdisciplinary case reviews to ensure coordinated and holistic
care. - Adhere to Ethical Standards: Uphold the Code of Ethics for Peer Supporters, including
boundaries, confidentiality, and professional conduct at all times. - Maintain Certification Training: Complete all continuing education and supervision
requirements to maintain Ohio Peer Recovery Supporter certification and stay current on peer
support practices. - Other duties as requested or require
WORK EXPECTATIONS
Maintain flexibility in scheduling, including potential evening/weekend shifts. Work in various environments, including community settings, peer homes, and service locations. Report any personalor professional changes that may impact your certification or ability to perform job duties.
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma or equivalent required. Hold a current, active Ohio Peer Recovery Supporter
Certification or achieve within six months of hire. Maintain at least one continuous year in personal
recovery, modeling recovery-oriented values. Demonstrate continued competence in peer support
practices, trauma-informed care, and cultural humility. Must be able to achieve NPI number and
Medicaid billing number within 90 days of hire.
Uphold all requirements of employment including transportation, communication, and attendance
standards.
