A school in Aurora, IL is seeking two full-time Teachers for the Visually Impaired to support the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Program. These onsite roles offer an exciting opportunity to work with specific student populations and provide specialized educational services.
Position 1 focuses exclusively on a high school population, serving a small caseload within the DHH program. This role involves providing direct instruction and onsite support tailored for high school students. Position 2 is dedicated to middle school students at a single site as part of the DHH program, also offering full-time hours. Both positions require dedicated professionals committed to enhancing educational outcomes for students with hearing impairments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction and support to visually impaired students within the DHH program
- Collaborate with educators and support staff to implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Monitor student progress and adapt teaching methods as needed
- Provide onsite assistance and resources to ensure accessibility and engagement
- Maintain detailed records and communicate regularly with families and school personnel
Desired Qualifications:
- Certification and experience teaching Students with Visual Impairments or Deaf and Hard of Hearing populations
- Strong understanding of educational strategies for students with sensory impairments
- Ability to work effectively with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
