About the Role

Are you detail-oriented, patient-focused, and passionate about supporting quality healthcare? We are seeking a dedicated Authorization Coordinator to join our team. This key role plays a vital part in ensuring an exceptional patient experience by securing prior authorizations, preparing accurate expense estimates, scheduling appointments, and collecting pre-service payments.

The Authorization Coordinator is the primary point of contact for patients, providing timely, courteous, and professional communication to ensure all pre-visit requirements are met efficiently and accurately.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Secure prior authorizations for services and procedures.

  • Manage and complete authorization referrals using Epic OCHIN work queues.

  • Collaborate with other departments to generate accurate patient fee estimates.

  • Schedule patient appointments following authorization approval.

  • Maintain up-to-date authorization documentation for ongoing patient services.

  • Review and interpret insurance benefits, including Medicaid enrollment procedures.

  • Provide professional and courteous support to patients and families.

  • Communicate sensitively and effectively with diverse patient populations.

  • Collaborate within a team-based care environment alongside clinical and non-clinical staff.

What We're Looking For

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education in healthcare administration or related field a plus.

  • Prior experience in healthcare setting with knowledge of financial clearance, including insurance verification, prior authorization, denials prevention, and securing patient accounts, preferred.

  • Experience using Epic (OCHIN) or similar EHR systems is highly desirable.

  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Understanding and working familiarity with rules and regulations of Federal, State, and commercial payer requirements, particularly in FQHC programs.
