Job Title: Dean of Upper School
Location: Ascent Classical Academy of Douglas County (ACADC)- Lone Tree, CO
FLSA Status: Exempt
Reports to: Headmaster
Work Days: Extended Year, Monday - Friday, Full Time
*Please note you will need to be able to attend training in Hillsdale, MI, for up to 10 days in June. ACACS and Hillsdale cover travel to the conference, lodging, and food.
Essential Functions:
- Teach one upper school class depending on background and experience
- Model excellent classroom management, content expertise, and classical pedagogy
- Hire, Observe, coach, mentor, and evaluate upper school teachers.
- Support teachers in establishing daily routines, procedures, and expectations in line with a classical education.
- Ensure that a vigorous education is being provided to our school students through rich content, dedicated teachers, and adherence to the BCSI program guide and school resources
- Help plan and organize teacher orientation, professional development days, as well as grade level and content area meetings
- Provide timely communication to teachers and staff about upcoming events, development opportunities, and deadlines
- Support fellow administrators in operations, student discipline, and daily campus activities
- Build an excellent school culture by holding students and staff to high academic and behavioral standards and modeling our school's 7 core virtues
- Assist teachers in setting up gradebooks, planning for parent-teacher conferences, and related tasks
- Help with parent information nights and outreach events as needed
- Support Dean of Students with timely handling student discipline concerns
- Coordinate with Dean of Student Services about meeting IEP and 504 plan requirements
- Actively contribute in school leadership team meetings on a weekly and quarterly basis
- Demonstrate consistent and reliable attendance by adhering to assigned work hours, reporting on time, and following proper procedures for absences or tardiness to ensure minimal disruption to students, colleagues, and school operations.

Required Skills/Abilities
- Bachelor's degree, Master's degree preferred
- Strong background in content areas; willingness to receive specific training
- Conviction in the values of a rigorous liberal arts education
- Extensive classroom experience preferred
- Commitment to the policies, mission, and vision of Ascent Classical Academy Charter Schools of Colorado
- Commitment to high moral character necessary to sustain ordered liberty and constitutional self-government
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, and the ability to effectively articulate information and issues
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment, superior organizational, and computer skills
- Ability to develop positive and professional relationships with team members
- Ability to provide excellent customer service and always maintain confidentiality and professionalism
- Willingness to support the school leadership team as needed
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds
- Must be able to traverse the classroom and adjust tone and height by bending or leaning
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer or standing to teach
- Must be able to supervise outdoor duties
