Seeking two qualified Teachers for the Visually Impaired (TVI) to provide specialized instruction and support for students with visual impairments in a K-12 school setting. These positions are contracted for the full school year and are located in Cicero, IL. The role involves empowering students to access the general education curriculum and environment through tailored strategies and collaborative efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consultative services to students ages 321 with visual impairments
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals that address each students unique visual needs
- Teach pensatory skills including Braille literacy, assistive technology usage, and daily living petencies
- Collaborate with Orientation and Mobility (O&M) specialists to support mobility training
- Adapt classroom materials and guide teachers in providing accessible instruction
- Work closely with educational teams, families, and related service providers to ensure prehensive support
- Travel between school locations as required when serving in an itinerant role
Qualifications:
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a TVI endorsement
- Experience working with students who are blind or visually impaired, including those with multiple or additional disabilities
- Strong collaborative and munication skills to engage effectively with interdisciplinary teams
