Job Developer/Trainer
Responsibilities and Illustrative Duties:
Intake Screening and Assessment
- Reviews individual’s program eligibility factors for designated program(s).
- Reviews material(s) collected from intake and individual’s program file.
- Completes screening with individual to assess strengths/weaknesses, job skills, training and experience to identify marketable job skills.
- Assists individual in identifying Target Job.
- Evaluates individual’s ability to participate in the job development process
Job Development/Program Development
- Utilizes screening information and Target Job Agreement to Job Develop for the individual within the community.
- Provides specialized job placement designed to match employment to the strengths of the individual.
- Instructs and prepares individual for the application, interview and initial employment process through an agency approved training course.
- Develop vocational based community activities for community Pre-vocational program.
Job Coaching
- Provides on-site direction/instruction to the individual once placed in employment and/or vocational community experience to assist the individual in learning all aspects of their job and becoming fully integrated with the employment environment.
- Assists individual with mobility (travel) training as needed.
Advocacy/Linkage
- Provides continuous evaluation of individual and assist where needed to assist in the stabilization of placement.
- Provides individual with necessary supports or linkage to supports that will assist in the individual’s personal success at and away from the job.
- Attends case conferences and special meetings to report on progress of individual.
Documentation
- Completes all required program reports, statistical summaries and narratives relating to services provided to program participants.
Travel
- May provide transportation as needed and assigned.
Follow-Along Services
- Provides continuous evaluation and supports necessary to assist individual in maintaining successful employment in a proactive manner.
- Provides ongoing training and retraining.
Program Promotion
- Provides information to program participants, parents/guardians, participating workers, employers and the general public regarding the requirements and benefits of our community employment programs and/or community pre-vocational program.
- Participates in staff meetings and in-service training in order to become more familiar with program needs and changes.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Extraordinary Work Conditions:
Will be required to travel to worksites throughout the SASi service area. Must be flexible in schedule to accommodate a variety of work placements. Must have a reliable independent means of transportation to all travel sites as assigned.
Qualifications:
Associates Degree in Human Services or related field PLUS one (1) year paid experience with disabled adults OR High School Diploma PLUS three (3) years paid experience with disabled adults OR An equivalent combination of education and experience
Must maintain a valid New York State Driver’s License with driving record that is acceptable within Agency’s criteria.
NOTE: In addition to meeting OMRDD background check, may also be required to meet OMH and Office of Children and Family Services background checks.
