An opportunity is available for a dedicated Special Education Teacher supporting K-12 students in a North Minneapolis public school setting. This full-time contract position runs from August 25, 2025, through June 3, 2026, encompassing a typical school year schedule with 37.5 hours per week.
This role involves managing a caseload of approximately 36-40 students ranging from kindergarten through 12th grade. The teacher will focus on providing comprehensive special education services, including all responsibilities related to student speech needs. Collaboration is key; the classroom environment includes support from additional special education teachers and paraprofessionals to assist in delivering individualized instruction and interventions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored special education programming for a diverse group of K-12 students
- Address all speech-related educational and communication needs within the caseload
- Collaborate effectively with paraprofessionals and fellow special education staff to implement IEP goals
- Maintain detailed documentation and progress reports to track student development
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to creating an inclusive, supportive learning environment
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid special education teaching certification appropriate for K-12 settings
- Experience working with a broad age range of students requiring special education services
- Strong skills in communication, teamwork, and individualized instruction
- Ability to adapt programming to meet a fluctuating caseload of students with varying needs
