Position Overview:
Serve as an Coach Across America Coach and Program Coordinator, using sports and education to empower youth and foster positive life outcomes. This role includes coaching, program coordination, and summer camp mentorship, offering diverse responsibilities and professional development opportunities.
About Coach Across America:
Coach Across America, is a national service organization that recruits, trains, and supports coaches to transform youth, programs, and communities. Coach Across America Coach, an AmeriCorps program, helps youth across the country succeed by harnessing the power of sport to improve their mental and physical well-being. Diverse cohorts of Coach Across America Coach AmeriCorps members provide sports-based mentorship to youth in schools and community-based organizations to ensure youth are equipped with the skills to achieve their full potential on and off of the playing field.
What youll do:
During the School Year (Sep-May) - Hours: After School and Weekends
Youth Sports Coach:Develop sport-specific skills and teamwork among youth.
Program Leader:Plan and improve existing youth programs, ensuring structure and engagement.
Health & Nutrition Leader:Educate youth and parents on healthy habits and lifestyle choices.
Camp Coordinator:Facilitate engaging activities during out-of-school time, including weekends and holidays.
Event Planner:Assist in organizing tournaments and special events.
Volunteer Recruiter:Recruit, train, and empower community volunteers for program support.
Service Learning Facilitator:Lead initiatives to promote community engagement and service.
Referee:Oversee games, ensuring fair play and using mistakes as teachable moments.
Summer Coach/Mentor (May -July) Hours: Coach must be available to work the entire day during the summer camp
Lead a group of approximately 10 campers as a team leader.
Communicate and implement weekly/daily activity plans.
Ensure timely and orderly movement of campers between activities.
Service Dates & Hours:
Hours:~10 hours/week during the school year;
3540 hours/week during summer.
Requirement:Complete 900 service hours by the end of July 2026
Coach Across America requirements and benefits:
- Attend and complete all Sports Based Youth Development Training provided (dates are provided during the interview process)
- Collect surveys and rosters on youth groups
- Complete bi-weekly timesheets

- Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident (Authorization to work in the U.S. is not sufficient.)
- Have a GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree
- Have served no more than three terms in an AmeriCorps state or national program
- Complete and pass a background check
