Job DescriptionMinimum 1+ years special education experience required.
This Special Education teaching position serves grades 6-12 within a K-12 school setting. The role is contract to hire, spanning the normal school year calendar from Monday through Friday, 8 am to 4 pm.
Primary responsibilities include developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to meet the diverse needs of 8-12 students, with some classes ranging from 4-5 students due to a variety of course offerings. The position demands strong relationship-building skills and experience working with adolescents facing mental health challenges.
Additional duties:
- Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff across subjects such as Vocational Agriculture, Woodworking, PE, Art, Music, Business Education, Technology, Science, Social Studies, Mathematics, and English.
- Maintain pliance with educational standards and monitor student progress.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training.
Special requirements for this role include the potential to obtain certification through an internal Violence Intervention and Prevention (VIP) training program. VIP focuses on de-escalation techniques and safe person-to-person restraints when managing students who exhibit behaviors that pose safety risks to themselves or others.
Qualifications:
- Special Education teaching certification.
- Experience with IEP development and implementation.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.

- Willingness to plete VIP certification.
