Job Summary
An instructor of nursing assistants guides students in classrooms, hospitals and medical facilities and teaches them how to fulfill their health care responsibilities. Educators must be effective communicators and explain complex medical practices and clearly demonstrate how to perform specific procedures. Nursing assistant instructors work with diverse groups of students who have differing skills and strengths, so they must be flexible, fair and consistent in their teaching methods.
Nature of Work
The Certified Nurses Assistant (CNA) Instructor will instruct students according to the curriculum designed to assist students to build knowledge and clinical skills aimed at passing the state licensing exam for CNA. Assist students in registering for the West Virginia State CNA licensing exam. The instructor must possess the ability to work with students from different socioeconomic and educational backgrounds. The Instructor will teach a minimum of 120 hours of classroom instruction. The salary of employment will be contracted per class.
Distinguishing Characteristics
Performs other functions as required or assigned. Also complies with all Policies and Standards.
Summary of Responsibilities:
Teach the course curriculum as outlined
Build knowledge and develop clinical skills aimed at assisting students to obtain the CNA license
Maintain accurate records on all students, including but not limited to attendance records, schedules and course requirements regarding hours of instruction and content
Evaluate and document students progress through testing, observation, and assessment of skills attained
Communicate effectively with students, and all those affiliated with the course, including staff at clinical training facilities, CTC staff, and prospective employers
Provide a stimulating environment that encourages student participation, interpersonal skills development, and concepts of good patient care
Maintain a monthly time sheet and turn in at required deadlines
Perform all other duties as assigned by the Program Director
Professional Development
Compliance training is to be completed routinely and timely.
Participate in additional professional development opportunities through LinkedIn Learning and professional organization affiliations.

Education
Bachelor's Degree - Required
Master's Degree - Preferred
Experience
In addition to the knowledge/education, the following related work experience is typically required, for this position. An equivalent combination of education and recent, related experience may be acceptable.
2-years Nursing Experience - Required
1 year or more of Long-term care and certificate with the Educator course - Required
