Job DescriptionThe RV Technician Trainee is responsible for performing basic repair and maintenance tasks on recreational vehicles in accordance with dealership and factory standards. This entry-level position is designed for individuals looking to grow their technical skills in a professional service environment. The technician will be expected to maintain productivity and deliver quality work while supporting a positive customer experience. Trainees will receive on-the-job training, guidance, and mentorship from experienced technicians and supervisors.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform technical repairs as assigned on the Repair Order under supervision, meeting dealership and factory standards for quality and efficiency.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with Service Advisors regarding additional work needed or delays in repairs.
- Ensure customer vehicles are handled with care, kept clean and secure during service, and returned in a professional condition.
- Conduct road tests to verify completed repairs, as required.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Accurately document the cause of failure, repair actions, and labor time on the Repair Order.
- Follow proper clocking procedures in the system and maintain accurate time records for each task.
- Obtain proper approvals for all Customer Pay (C.P.) flagged time prior to performing work.
- Adhere to all dealership, manufacturer, and legal regulations related to safety, hazardous waste disposal, and shop operations.
- Participate in ongoing technical training and certification opportunities to grow skillsets and support advancement.
- Return all special tools and warranty parts in accordance with dealership policy.
- Follow assigned repair order sequence and promptly report added work needs for authorization.
- Notify Service Advisor of any issues that may impact the vehicle's promise time or quality of repair.
- Communicate equipment malfunctions to the Shop Manager immediately.
- Pull and return vehicles to designated parking areas and manage keys properly.
- Display a professional and service-oriented demeanor in all interactions with customers and teammates.
Qualifications
- Basic mechanical aptitude and interest in developing a career in RV or automotive repair.
- Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to safety and quality.
- Ability to follow instructions, work under supervision, and complete assigned tasks on time.
- Good communication skills and willingness to engage with team members and leadership.
- Must maintain a neat appearance and wear proper uniform at all times.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Prior mechanical or technical experience preferred but not required.
- Valid Texas driver’s license with clean driving record required.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting throughout the workday.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and operate hand tools and equipment safely.
- Work performed indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Must adhere to all safety protocols and wear protective gear as required.
