Position Overview:
The Lancaster County School District is seeking a skilled and compassionate School Psychologist to join our student support team for the 20252026 academic year. Serving a diverse K12 caseload, this full-time, hybrid position offers a unique opportunity to provide both onsite and virtual psychological services in a dynamic and collaborative educational setting.
The ideal candidate will be student-centered, proactive, and skilled in assessment, consultation, and intervention strategies. This position plays a vital role in supporting the academic success, social-emotional development, and mental health of students across the district.
Key Responsibilities:Assessment & Evaluation:

Conduct comprehensive psychoeducational assessments for students referred for special education eligibility or re-evaluation.

Interpret data from cognitive, academic, social-emotional, and behavioral evaluations to inform educational planning.

Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and write legally defensible reports for eligibility determinations in compliance with IDEA and Section 504.
Consultation & Collaboration:

Collaborate with teachers, administrators, special education teams, parents/guardians, and outside agencies to support student success.

Participate in and contribute to Individualized Education Program (IEP) and Section 504 Plan meetings.

Provide consultation to staff on academic accommodations, behavior management, and instructional strategies based on student needs.
Intervention & Support:

Design and implement academic and behavioral interventions for students as part of the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS).

Support school-based teams with the development and monitoring of Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) and Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs).

Provide short-term counseling or skill-building sessions to students in need of support.
Crisis Prevention & Response:

Serve as a member of the districts crisis response team, assisting with prevention, intervention, and postvention efforts.

Offer immediate support to students and staff in times of crisis, trauma, or sudden events impacting school communities.
Professional Development & Training:
-
Provide training to staff on topics such as trauma-informed practices, mental health awareness, restorative strategies, and social-emotional learning.

Maintain current knowledge of best practices in school psychology, mental health, and educational policy.
Required Qualifications:
-
Valid South Carolina Department of Education Certification as a School Psychologist (Level II or III preferred).

Masters, Specialist, or Doctoral degree in School Psychology from a NASP-approved program.

Experience in a K12 school setting preferred; new graduates with strong internship experience are encouraged to apply.

Familiarity with federal and South Carolina education laws, including IDEA, Section 504, and FERPA.

Proficient in the use of standardized assessment tools and data-driven decision making.
