Job DescriptionDescription:
Role and Responsibilities: Responsible for providing durable medical equipment and care to patients as directed by physician clinics in a timely and cost effective manner.
Essential Job Functions:
- Provide Durable Medical Equipment to patients as directed by physicians.
- Communicates with Physicians to determine most appropriate device for each unique individual.
- Accurately measure and fit braces and other specified DME devices.
- Responsible for timely and cost effective ordering of braces and essential materials.
- Follow established standards and practices and accurately documenting into electronic medical records.
- Perform daily deliveries to local hospitals per protocol.
- Provide patient education regarding DME devices.
- Interact with insurance personnel, rehabilitation specialists, and professional organizations, as necessary.
- Answer calls and return messages in a timely manner.
- Perform other related duties as assigned, within scope of roles and responsibilities.
- Identifies and responds appropriately to both internal and external customer needs, utilizing available resources.
- Prioritizes work activities based on clinic demands to complete assignments within designated timeframes with minimal supervision.
- Salary position with Monday – Thursday hours 7am to 5pm, Friday 7am to noon. No evenings & occasional weekend call.
Additional Qualifications:
- Background in human anatomy preferred, eg. degree in Exercise Science, ATC, PTA, OTA or Kinesiology.
- Fitting of medical supportive devices for spinal patients with a variety of conditions, as well as comfortable with off the shelf devices, preferred.
- Results Oriented self-motivator with proven track record of accomplishments.
- Commitment to providing excellent customer service for both patients and clinical team.
- Ability to work as an integral part of professional team.
- Able to communicate on multiple levels with excellent interpersonal skills to accomplish all goals.
- Proficient in Inventory Management Software; EMR Software, preferred.
- Track volume of successful fittings
- Monitor efficiencies and timeliness of equipment delivery
Requirements:
Physical Requirements:
This role demands regular physical activity, including:
- Standing and walking for the majority of an eight-hour shift.
- Reaching forward up to 18 inches while holding objects weighing up to 15 pounds.
- Frequent bending, crouching, or stooping (approximately 20 times per hour).
- Regular lifting and moving items, occasionally weighing between 25 and 50 pounds.
- Excellent visual acuity and dexterity for precise fitting and detailed work with devices.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients, external vendors, providers, and internal departments.
