The Boston Community Education Center (BCEC) is seeking an instructor to teach Spanish (not medically focused) to community members and housing development employees with limited Spanish proficiency in the Roxbury area of Boston. This position is ideal for individuals interested in teaching and fostering community connection in Boston. Experience in teaching Spanish is helpful but not required. Experience in teaching adults is also preferred.
Program schedule entails forty weeks of classes broken into 10-week cycles over the course of a year starting in mid July of 2025. Class schedule to be determined based on instructor and program availability. Classes are likely to take place on Mondays and Wednesdays 6-7pm. Total contact hours will be 2 hours per week. Instructors will be paid up to $90 per contact hour.

Responsibilities will include:
-
Creating lesson plans
-
Developing interactive activities and using props and other supporting materials as necessary to enhance students' classroom experience

Actively engaging and interacting with students during classes and activities
-
Recording weekly attendance
-
Communicating with students, including class reminders, sharing materials, and other information as needed
-
Assessing, recording, and reporting on student proficiency levels and progress through formal and informal assessment
-
This position requires candidates with the following qualifications:

Spanish fluency
-
Experience in Spanish education, preferably with adults

Experience with curriculum design
-
Ability to travel regularly to the Roxbury area of Boston

A proactive, caring, positive, and energetic personality

Successful candidates will progress through the following steps in the application process:
