This position seeks a qualified Special Education Teacher to support elementary students in an inclusive learning environment. The role involves delivering individualized instruction to students with diverse learning needs while collaborating closely with families, educators, and support teams to foster academic and social-emotional growth.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelors degree in Special Education or a related field
- Valid Ohio Department of Education (ODE) Intervention Specialist License (Mild/Moderate, Moderate/Intensive, or K-12)
- Strong knowledge of IDEA and IEP processes
- Experience in implementing individualized instruction and behavior management strategies
- Proficiency in progress monitoring, data collection, and formative assessments
- Excellent munication, collaboration, and documentation skills
Preferred:
- Masters degree in Special Education, Educational Leadership, or related field
- Experience with inclusive education models, co-teaching, and Universal Design for Learning (UDL)
- Training in Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) development
- Familiarity with assistive technology and adaptive curriculum tools
- Knowledge of Ohio Learning Standards Extended for students with significant cognitive disabilities
- Bilingual or multilingual abilities
Location: Fairborn, OH
Duration: Contract position for the uping school year
Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Provide direct academic, social-emotional, and functional skill instruction tailored to student needs
- Adapt curriculum and assessments to support diverse learners
- Collaborate with general education staff to promote inclusive practices and co-teaching opportunities
- Conduct academic and behavioral assessments for progress evaluation and goal-setting
- Manage Behavior Intervention Plans and facilitate IEP, ETR, and 504 meetings
- Maintain consistent munication with parents/guardians regarding student progress
- Use assistive technology and specialized strategies to enhance learning
- Ensure pliance with all relevant state and federal special education laws and reporting requirements
- Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices
