JOB SUMMARY: Provides direct supervision for certified nursing assistants and personal care aides in the day center.Assists the Activities Director with planning and enacting therapeutic and recreational activities for participants in the program. Acts in the role of Activities Director to perform duties related to Interdisciplinary Team/Plan of Care when AD is unavailable.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Directly supervises performance of certified nursing assistants and personal care aides in the day center.
- Assists in the planning of recreational and social activities in collaboration with the Activities Director.
- Implements and supervises recreational activities as approved by the Activities Director.
- Assists with the planning and oversight of group and individual activities.
- Participates in morning meetings during Activities Director absences.
- Coordinates and oversees new employee orientation for adult day health care staff.
- Serves as a resource to staff and helps coordinate volunteer activities at the center.
- Schedules daily and monthly work assignments for personal care aides in the adult day healthcare center.
- Monitors the work of day center staff who help implement the daily activity schedule for PACE and reports to supervisor, as appropriate.
- Maintains logs of attendance for day center staff who help with the adult day healthcare center and reports trends to supervisor.
- Informs the clinical and interdisciplinary team about changes in participant functional status.
- May assist in the development of participant plans of care as well as serve on the interdisciplinary team in place of the Activities Coordinator or Aide.
- Completes all documentation in the medical record as required.
- Monitors attendance, compiles data and prepares reports as assigned.
- Maintains logs of adult day health care attendance for billing purposes.
- Assigns personal care aides to assume custodial duties in the absence of custodial staff.
- Participates in the Quality Improvement program.
- Acts only within the scope of his or her authority to interact with participants
- Reports directly to the Activities Director in all aspects of the aide duties and oversight as well as Interdisciplinary Team/Plans of Care.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: As an extension of Center Manager, provides oversight of personal care aides in the activity center. Maintains work schedules for personal care aides in the activity center and monitors the quality of their work in conjunction with the Center Manager
QUALIFICATIONS:
Certified Personal Care Assistant required; Certified Nursing Assistant preferred.
One or more years’ experience in a social or recreational or activity program for frail or elderly people.
High school diploma or equivalent degree.
Ability to work effectively on a team.
Pleasant personality and positive outlook.
Ability to interact calmly with people in difficult and unusual situations.
Ability to use a computer – will need to enter data into electronic health records.
Medically cleared for communicable diseases with up-to-date immunizations before participant contact.
Criminal history records check at hire.
Drug screen at hire.
