SUMMARY:
Emerald Coast Autism Center (ECAC) is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization dedicated to educating and improving the lives of children and young adults diagnosed with autism and related unique abilities. ECAC is unique in our approach to teaching these amazing children. All instruction and activities at the ECAC are consistent with the science of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Emerald Coast Learning Center (ECLC) is a wholly owned subsidiary of ECAC and operates similarly for clients on the academic or vocational track.
The Emerald Coast Learning Center Instructional Assistant will apply ABA based assistance in the classroom at the direction of the Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and the classroom teacher, assisting the teacher as they conduct activities. This is a full-time salary position, requiring the employee to work a minimum of 32 hours a week (Monday-Friday) and a maximum of 40 hours a week. REQUIRED JOB SKILLS: The applicant must be positive, enthusiastic, energetic, flexible, self-motivated, have effective time management skills, observation skills, analytical skills, and be a team player.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist the teacher and BCBA in delivering daily academic instruction and behavior support based on ABA strategies
- Provide individualized and small group academic support to students, as directed
- Reinforce appropriate behaviors and implement individualized behavior treatment plans under supervision
- Support students with special needs in daily routines, classroom transitions, and functional skills
- Collect data on academic and behavioral performance and support accurate documentation
- Prepare and organize classroom materials, supplies, and equipment as needed
- Foster a supportive and safe classroom environment that encourages student independence and participation
- Communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and families in a professional and respectful manner
- Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA, and organizational policies
- Participate in team meetings, training, peer and personal performance reviews, and ongoing professional development
- Substitution of classroom instruction in the absence of the lead classroom instructor
QUALIFICATIONS:
- No prior experience or training
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- All applicants must pass a background check

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, utilize hand and finger dexterity, climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crawl, talk, and hear
- While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud
- The employee must occasionally lift and /or move more than 10 pounds
- The employee must be able to operate an iPad, tablet, and computer
