A K-12 educational institution located in Laurel, MT, is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to support grades 6-12. This position offers a contract-to-hire opportunity with a regular Monday through Friday schedule from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, following the standard school calendar.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction tailored to students with varying abilities, focusing on a caseload of 8-12 students. Some classes may be smaller, ranging from 4-5 students, allowing for more individualized attention.
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Foster strong relationships with students, particularly those experiencing mental health challenges, to support their academic and social growth.
- Engage in diverse course offerings including Vocational Agriculture, Woodworking, Physical Education, Art, Music, Business Education, Technology, Science, Social Studies, Mathematics, Special Education, and English.
- Participate in training and certification in Violence Intervention and Prevention (VIP), focusing on de-escalation techniques and safe restraint methods to ensure a safe learning environment.
Qualifications:
- Certification in Special Education is required.
- Experience with IEP development and implementation.
