Schedule: Full-Time, 37.5 hrs/week | Onsite
Overview:
We are currently hiring three Special Education Teachers for Lapeer Community Schools for the upcoming 20252026 academic year. These are full-time, onsite roles, working in self-contained settings with students requiring specialized support. Interviewing is happening now, and we encourage qualified candidates to apply as soon as possible.

One position for Cognitively Impaired (CI) students

One position for Emotionally Impaired (EI) students

37.5 hours/week onsite

Start dates vary by position (July or August 2025)
Responsibilities:
-
Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to student needs
-
Provide instruction and behavioral support in a self-contained classroom environment
-
Collaborate with general education staff, paraprofessionals, and families
-
Monitor and report on student progress
-
Ensure compliance with all state and federal special education regulations
Qualifications:
-
Bachelors degree in Special Education or related field (Masters degree preferred)

Valid Michigan Professional Educator License with required endorsements:
- CI Endorsement for the Cognitively Impaired position
- EI Endorsement for the Emotionally Impaired position -
Full IS License only (no substitute credentials accepted)

Completion of Science of Reading training is required

Strong experience with IEP processes and behavioral support strategies

Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Preferred Skills:

Experience with assistive technology and adaptive tools

Training in trauma-informed teaching or crisis intervention is a plus

Ability to work effectively in a structured, self-contained environment
