Job Description

We are looking for an individual who is motivated to advance the future of education, manage and grow our community relationships, and use their skills and experience teaching STEM to students in K – 8th grades. You are responsible for teaching groups of students STEM skills, keeping our STEM curriculum relevant, creating new STEM programs, training our instructors, and developing and managing our community outreach STEM programs, camps, workshops and events throughout the Western North Carolina area. This position is also part of a team that fills in for the Campus Manager when they are not on-site and is a back-up Zaniac van driver picking up students from schools. The position is salaried and full-time with a work schedule that varies by area school calendars.

This is a full-time exempt position with variable retail hours and schedule, including the ability to work weekdays and weekends. All hours and schedule subject to business demand. While hours flexibility is the norm, the schedule is usually set or predictable in advance to permit a comfortable work/life balance. A typical business schedule during the school year is Noon – 6pm Monday through Friday and during summer and school breaks is 8:00am – 5:00pm Monday through Friday, with occasional evening school events. There are scheduled weekend hours as needed for birthday parties and events such as field trips, workshops, open houses and parents’ night out events, typically 2-4 hour work blocks.

Responsibilities:

This role is at the forefront of delivering STEM education to our students and growing our STEM education reach throughout the Western North Carolina community, which includes working with local schools and non-profits to deliver STEM activities, crafting programming around STEM innovation, and collaborating with other educators to deliver STEM education. This includes:

Building Zaniac’s awareness with the community, schools, libraries, and other partners.
Leading all on-site and off-site sales, including field trips, library/school workshops, homeschool classes, off-site after-school classes, off-site camps, partnerships with other organizations, community/school STEM events, STEM training, and new offerings for unused campus time and resources.
Teaching on-site and off-site classes, workshops and events as needed.
Overseeing the daily operations of the campus and off-site activities.
Training all Instructors and supporting Campus Manager’s management of staff.
Keep Zaniac’s STEM curriculum and create new STEM curriculum as needed.
Engaging in all marketing planning, decisions and execution.
Assisting and supporting the Campus Manager and filling in when they are not on-site as needed.
Serve as a back-up van driver picking up students from schools, as needed.
Reports directly to the Managing Partner, Campus Director.
