Summary
Our dynamic community preschool is looking for a part-time assistant classroom teacher to collaborate with and support the lead teacher in providing a safe and nurturing environment for children to learn and grow, ensuring a Christ-centered environment for students. Our teachers will be fun-loving and engaging, adaptable, responsible and organized. Assistant Classroom Teachers of St. Paul Preschool report directly to their lead teacher, as well as the the Preschool Director, in collaboration with the Senior Pastor, Personnel Committee and the Preschool Board.
Duties
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Educational:
Assist the Lead Teacher in planning and implementing daily lesson plans based on the
Preschool’s curriculum.
Prepare classroom materials and set up activities to create an engaging learning
environment.
Supervise children during classroom activities, outdoor play, and transitions ensuring
their safety and wellbeing.
Interact with children in a positive and supportive manner, encouraging their
participation and fostering their social-emotional development.
Observe and document children’s progress, providing feedback to the Lead Teacher.
Assist with maintaining a clean, organized, and stimulating classroom environment.
Communicate effectively with parents, providing updates on their child’s progress and
addressing any concerns.
Participate in staff development training programs, as needed.
Maintain open communication with the Lead Teacher and Preschool Director.
Church Connectional Duties
Attend staff meetings of the Preschool, Church staff, and Preschool Board as requested.
Support the evangelism strategy of the church by actively inviting families to attend
worship and participate in the ministry of St. Paul CUMC.
Other Duties
Assist with maintaining accurate records of attendance, medical information, and
emergency contacts.
Uphold all safety protocols and procedures.
Perform other goals and duties as assigned.
Requirements
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early
Childhood Education or related field preferred.
Previous experience in childcare, a preschool environment, or equivalent preferred.
Effective communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
Ability to maintain a positive and patient attitude while working with young children.
Ability to understand and follow data privacy rules and regulations related to students.
Ability to pass a criminal background check.
CPR and standard first aid certified; lay responder minimum.

Physical Requirements:
The position requires an elevated level of activity. Work involves physical tasks,
including walking, standing, bending, lifting, and kneeling. Ability to lift 40 pounds.

Commensurate with experience and responsibility.
Work Schedule:
September through May, Monday through Thursday, 11-13 hrs/week and occasional
meetings as requested.
