Job Description
BryceTech is currently looking for a Technical Writer. This position will be supporting The U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command, Chemical Biological Center, known as DEVCOM CBC. This role will involve developing, editing, and managing high-quality technical documentation to support CBRN defense research, ensuring compliance with DoD and Army publication standards and security classification requirements as directed by government leads
The person in this role will:
- Collaborate with CBRN subject-matter experts, scientists, and engineers to gather and verify technical information for documentation.
- Write, edit, and format technical reports, standard operating procedures, manuals, white papers, and briefings tailored to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Translate complex scientific and engineering data into clear, concise language that supports DEVCOM CBC’s research, testing, and fielding efforts.
- Ensure all deliverables comply with Army regulations, DoD issuances, and internal style guides, including proper security classification and distribution markings.
- Maintain version control, track revisions, and organize documentation assets within DEVCOM CBC’s content management and technical publication systems.
- Conduct peer reviews and quality assurance checks to validate accuracy, consistency, and completeness of technical content.
- Coordinate with the Technical Releases Office and Security Office to apply appropriate markings, disclaimers, and ensure timely release of documents.
- Support Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) and technical interchange meetings by providing status updates on documentation efforts and scheduling deliverables.
- Prepare publication packages and user-friendly quick-reference guides to facilitate the deployment and sustainment of CBRN medical technologies.
- Mentor and guide junior writers and interns on best practices in scientific communication, editorial standards, and DoD documentation processes.
Qualifications
The experience and certification requirements listed below are essential to successfully perform the tasks above:
- Associates degree, preferably in Technical Communication, English, Journalism, or a STEM discipline
- Minimum of 3 years of professional technical writing and editing experience, ideally supporting defense, CBRN, or other government research organizations.
- Proven track record drafting and delivering scientific/technical documentation, including research reports and fielding guides.
- Familiarity with DoD and Army documentation policies, military specifications, and integrated logistics support (ILS) documentation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe FrameMaker (or equivalent authoring tools), and content management systems.
