Yeshiva Ohr Yisrael is hiring a part-time teacher to teach a section of chemistry at an all boys high school. This position is ideal for someone with a current teaching position looking for additional work, a graduate student interested in teaching at the high school level, or a retired teacher who isn’t quite ready to leave it all behind.
We can provide you with a home to teach your passion! In addition to traditional academics, our wide array of electives enrich the academic curriculum and showcase the creativity of our faculty. If you want to develop hands-on, project-based courses, or are looking for a place to teach science or engineering elective courses, we want to talk to you!
Responsibilities include:
Create and implement lesson plans You will be responsible for teaching one section of high school Chemistry, including labs. For the right candidate there is room to teach science or engineering elective courses or to advise student clubs, based on your interests.
Monitor and communicate student progress Provide feedback to students and their families on academic, social, and behavioral progress. Maintain appropriate records. Create two-way communication channels with families so they are updated on their child’s progress.
Other responsibilities As assigned by the Head of School.
Who you are:
- You are warm, nurturing, and passionate about working with teenage boys.
- You are creative, and enjoy developing coursework that will challenge and enrich teenager’s minds.
- You are passionate about science and chemistry, and have multiple ways to engage students in the curriculum.
- The ideal candidate will have experience teaching high school Chemistry.
- NOTE: We are also looking for people interested in teaching science and engineering elective courses. Topics may include Anatomy & Physiology, Environmental Science, Computer Science, or Robotics, depending on your background and interest.

Location: Yeshiva Ohr Yisrael is in Chestnut Hill (Newton), Massachusetts
Hours: The hours for this position have some flexibility between 1:30-5:30 p.m. There is room to teach between 1-4 courses during these hours.
Salary: $10,000 per class
Benefits: You will be provided with a work space and opportunities to collaborate with colleagues. Classes meet Mondays-Thursdays. Time off for national and Jewish holidays. Our small class sizes encourage you to individualize your instruction to meet students’ needs.
