Position Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Teacher of the Visually Impaired to provide remote instructional support to students with visual impairments across Minnesota. This role focuses on delivering specialized educational services tailored to students unique needs, helping them achieve academic success and independence through remote learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver specialized instruction for students with visual impairments using virtual platforms.

  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with families and multidisciplinary teams.

  • Teach and support students in the use of assistive technology, braille, orientation and mobility skills, and other adaptive techniques.

  • Monitor and document student progress, adjusting instructional approaches as necessary.

  • Collaborate with parents, therapists, and other educators to provide comprehensive support.

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations, including IDEA, FERPA, and Section 504.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Special Education or a related field.

  • Valid Minnesota teaching license with endorsement or certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired.

  • Experience teaching students with visual impairments preferred.

  • Proficiency in virtual teaching platforms and technology.

  • Strong communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.

  • Reliable computer and high-speed internet access.
