Job Title: Head Coach - Men's and Women's Swimming

Location: Bethel University, Mishawaka, Indiana Department: Athletics Position Type: Full-Time

Overview: Bethel University, a faith-based institution located in Mishawaka, Indiana, and competing in the NAIA, is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to serve as the Head Coach for the Men's and Women's Swimming programs. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and developing a Christ-centered, competitive swimming program in alignment with the mission and values of Bethel University.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead all aspects of the men's and women's swimming programs, including strategic planning, coaching, and team development.
  • Recruit and retain student-athletes who align with the academic and spiritual values of Bethel University and who can contribute competitively in the NAIA.
  • Plan, organize, and execute effective practice sessions and training programs that promote athlete development, safety, and performance.
  • Develop and manage team budgets responsibly, including travel, equipment, and operational costs.
  • Prepare meet lineups and make competitive decisions that support individual and team success.
  • Oversee and mentor assistant coaches, ensuring a cohesive coaching philosophy and standard of excellence.
  • Maintain effective and professional communication with student-athletes, athletic staff, faculty, and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure proper care, maintenance, and inventory of program equipment and facilities.
  • Monitor academic progress and provide support to ensure student-athletes meet academic eligibility standards.
  • Promote the program through community involvement, camps, and collaboration with the university marketing and sports information staff.
  • Uphold Bethel University's commitment to Christ-centered education and spiritual formation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in coaching competitive swimming, preferably at the collegiate level.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to mentor and lead student-athletes spiritually, academically, and athletically.
  • Knowledge of NAIA rules and regulations preferred.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Bethel University.
