Virtual Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH)
Derby Public Schools in Derby, Kansas, is hiring a certified Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) for a fully virtual position for the 20252026 school year. This is a great opportunity for an experienced educator seeking a remote, full-time role with a manageable and meaningful caseload.

Position Overview

  • Start Date: August 13, 2025

  • End Date: May 22, 2026

  • Hours: 37.5 hours per week

  • Average Weekly Service Minutes: 548.6

  • Caseload: 18 students total

  • 12 students receiving pullout services

  • 6 students on consult services

  • Pay Range: $35 to $40 per hour, depending on experience

  • Employment Type: 1099 contractor (no benefits or 401k)

    What Youll Be Doing

  • Provide virtual instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing

  • Deliver both direct services and consultative support

  • Develop and manage IEPs in collaboration with school staff and families

  • Monitor progress and adjust interventions as needed

  • Communicate regularly with general education teachers, interpreters, and related service providers

    Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Active or eligible Kansas DHH teaching license

  • Prior experience with virtual instruction

  • Strong understanding of IEP implementation and service delivery

  • Clear communication and time management skills

  • Comfort using virtual platforms and assistive technology
