Virtual Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH)
Derby Public Schools in Derby, Kansas, is hiring a certified Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) for a fully virtual position for the 20252026 school year. This is a great opportunity for an experienced educator seeking a remote, full-time role with a manageable and meaningful caseload.
Position Overview

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Average Weekly Service Minutes: 548.6

Caseload: 18 students total

12 students receiving pullout services

6 students on consult services
-
Pay Range: $35 to $40 per hour, depending on experience

Employment Type: 1099 contractor (no benefits or 401k)
What Youll Be Doing
-
Provide virtual instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing
-
Deliver both direct services and consultative support
-
Develop and manage IEPs in collaboration with school staff and families
-
Monitor progress and adjust interventions as needed
-
Communicate regularly with general education teachers, interpreters, and related service providers
Ideal Candidate Will Have
-
Active or eligible Kansas DHH teaching license
-
Prior experience with virtual instruction
-
Strong understanding of IEP implementation and service delivery
-
Clear communication and time management skills

Comfort using virtual platforms and assistive technology
