OPPORTUNITY STATEMENT
Marlborough School is seeking a dedicated and passionate Assistant Tennis Coach to assist and develop our High School (grades 9-12) tennis team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in tennis, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive team environment. Our assistant tennis coach will be responsible for coaching, mentoring, and developing the skills of student-athletes, as well as promoting sportsmanship, teamwork, and a love for the game.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist, organize, and conduct practice sessions to develop athletes' skills, techniques, and overall performance.
- Teach the fundamentals of tennis, including rules, strategies, and sportsmanship.
- Assess the abilities and potential of student-athletes, providing individualized coaching and feedback.
- Assist with game strategies and coordinate with the varsity coach to ensure cohesive program development.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all student-athletes during practices, matches, and travel.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive team culture.
- Manage team logistics, including scheduling practices, matches, and transportation.
- Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, school administration, and other stakeholders.
- Promote academic success and good character among student-athletes.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred.
- Previous coaching experience in tennis at the high school or club level.
- Strong knowledge of the game of tennis, including rules, techniques, and strategies.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to inspire, motivate, and mentor student-athletes.
- Commitment to promoting a positive and inclusive team environment.
- CPR and First Aid certification Required.
COMPENSATION
- As a non-exempt employee, the hourly compensation ranges from $25-$40 per hour.
