Summary
Childcare AdventuresEarlyLearningCenterEducationLeadTeacherisresponsibleforprovidinganearlychildhoodeducationprogramforagroupof 3‐ yearoldchildrenthatmeettheearlychildhoodeducationstandardsoftheChildcare Adventures.TheLeadTeacheraddressesallareasofdevelopmentandmeetstheindividualneedsofeachchild.Inpartnershipwithparents,theLeadTeacherobservesandassesseschildren’sdevelopment,planschildren’scurriculumbasedonchilddevelopmentknowledge,designsthelearningenvironment,andimplementsandsupervisesdevelopmentallyappropriatelearningactivities.
Duties
PRINCIPALDUTIESANDRESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Developanindoorandoutdoorlearningenvironmentthatprovidesavarietyofageappropriateexperiencestofosterchildexplorationanddiscovery.
2. Useacurriculumframeworkandcurriculumtoolsthatprovideopportunitiesforeachchildtomeetlearningexpectationsthatpreparechildrenforsuccessinschool.
3. Establishadailyroutinethatincludestimeforsmallgroupandlargegroupactivities,encouragescreativeexpression,andincorporateshealthandnutritiondevelopmentaspartofdailyactivities.
4. Modelappropriateandrespectfulbehaviortothechildrenandfellowstaff.
5. Workwithparentstoplanculturallyappropriatecurriculumthatsupportschildren’slearningstylesandinterests.
6. Assureparentinputintomenus.
7. Supportchildren’ssocialandemotionaldevelopmentthroughpositivechildguidanceapproachesandthedevelopmentofpositiverelationshipsintheclassroom.
8. Assesseachchild’slearningneedsthroughscreening,observation,ongoingassessmentandthedevelopmentofindividuallearningplans.ReportonatleastonechildoutcometotheDepartmentofEarlyLearning.
9. LeadtheclassroomteamthatcanincludeanAssistantTeacher,ClassroomAideandFamilySupportSpecialistincollaborativelyworkingwithchildrenandfamilies.Providedirectiontostaffasneeded.
10. Haveparentconferenceswitheachchild’sparent(s)foraminimumofthreehoursayeartopartnerinlearninggoals,developcoordinatedlearningsupportstrategiesandinvolvetheparent(s)inthechild’spreschoolexperience.11. Establishandmaintainconfidential,accurateandtimelyinformationoneachchild’sdevelopmentandprogramparticipation.Maintainconfidentiality.12. Incorporateparentingtrainingandparentleadershipinprogramactivities.13. Usevideocommunicationsystemsandclassroomvideorecordingsforinter‐sitecommunication,professionaldevelopmentandpotentialparentleadershiptraining.14. Participateincommunityassessmentactivitiesandanannualprogramself‐assessment.Useinformationinongoingprogramimprovement.
Requirements
PreferredQualificationsandSkills:
1. ABachelor’sDegreeorhigherdegreeinearlychildhoodeducation.
2. Demonstratedabilitytobuildpositiverelationshipswithchildren.
3. Demonstratedabilitytoworkefficientlywithinateam.
4. Demonstratedcomputerskills,organizationalskillsandcommitmenttofollowthroughontaskswithaminimumofsupervision.
5. Demonstratedabilitytousesoundjudgmentincriticalandadversesituations.
6. Demonstratedabilitytoworkwithpeople,includingparents,socialserviceprovidersandschooldistrictpersonnel.
WorkingConditions/PhysicalRequirements:
1. Workinapreschoolclassroomsettingarrangingfurnitureandclassroomlearningareas.
2. Havetheabilitytoliftfiftypounds.
3. Beabletoperformstationaryroutineandrepetitivefunctionsforextendedperiods.
EmploymentRequirements:
1. Successfulcompletionofacriminalrecordsandfingerprintbackgroundcheck.
2. ValidcertificateinCPRandfirstaid,childabuseandneglecttraining,trainingonemergencypreparedness,haveaTBtesttomeetstatehealthrequirements.
