Once Upon a Childcare is looking for an experienced Childcare Floater to join our team. We are looking for someone who is comfortable with all age groups and able to do a closing shift. Our hours of operation are from 7:00 to 5:30, Monday through Friday.
Pay starts between $16.00 - $18.00 based on education and experience. On-going pay raises for all employees are awarded based on meeting program standards and expectations. Benefits:
- All Employees will accrue Personal Time and PTO hours do not expire and can roll over to the following year.
- Sick Pay will be accrued for a maximum of 48 hours, applied to each employee's policy, and paid out for absences due to illness each calendar year. Sick pay hours do not expire and can roll over to the following year.
- Holiday pay will be paid based on your individual average hours worked and will be paid to each employee after their 60-day probationary period.

Responsibilities:
- Develop a fun and creative lesson plan suitable for children in your care
- Employ a variety of educational techniques (storytelling, educational play, etc.) to teach children
- Observe each child to help them improve their social competencies and build self-esteem
- Encourage children to interact with each other and resolve occasional arguments
- Guide children to develop their artistic and practical capabilities through a carefully constructed curriculum (identify shapes, numbers, colors, art, etc...).
- Track children's progress and report to parents
- Communicate with parents regularly to understand the children's background and psyche.
- Collaborate with other educators.
- Maintain a clean and tidy classroom consistent with health and safety standards.
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Experience working in a licensed childcare facility
- Child development courses through an accredited college and/or EQIT/Pyramid Plus courses and/or a Level 2 or higher in the PDIS credential system
- Excellent understanding of the principles of child development and preschool educational methods
- Familiarity with safety and sanitation guidelines for classrooms
- Excellent communication and instructional skills
- Ability to act as a mediator between children
- Cool-tempered, friendly, and reliable
- Certification in child CPR or willingness to obtain
