A K8 structured teaching classroom in Peoria, AZ, is seeking an experienced Special Education Teacher dedicated to supporting students with autism and other developmental disabilities. This position offers an opportunity to apply evidence-based instructional techniques within a highly organized and predictable environment, fostering student independence and progress.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instruction utilizing evidence-based strategies such as TEACCH, visual schedules, and work systems.
- Develop and implement tailored IEPs addressing academic, behavioral, and social-emotional goals.
- Collaborate closely with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and families to support student achievement.
- Manage classroom behavior using proactive, positive behavior supports to create a supportive learning atmosphere.
- Maintain a structured and organized classroom setting that encourages student independence and engagement.
- Collect and analyze data to monitor student progress and provide regular reports.
Qualifications:
- Valid Arizona Teaching Certificate with Special Education endorsement or eligibility.
- Experience in a structured teaching environment or working with students on the autism spectrum is preferred.
- Strong skills in classroom management, munication, and collaborative teamwork.
- Familiarity with visual supports, assistive technology, and functional skill development for students with developmental disabilities.
