Siena Catholic Schools of Racine is seeking a dynamic and creative leader who can inspire and serve as Assistant Principal at St. Catherine’s High School, an urban 9th-12th grade school.

Siena Catholic Schools of Racine (SCS) unites the area’s six Catholic elementary schools (John Paul II Academy, Our Lady of Grace Academy, St. Joseph School, St. Lucy Catholic School, St. Rita School, and St. Sebastian STEM Academy) in a regional model of Catholic education intended to preserve the individual identity, history and uniqueness of each school while maximizing the impact of collective strength.

Scope and Summary: Provide for overall leadership and coordination of day-to-day student life including student achievement, student discipline, and school activities to ensure a positive and productive school culture both in and outside of the classroom. Additionally, provide leadership in collaboration with the High School Principal in the supervision and evaluation of the school staff. This position is responsible for accomplishing goals and objectives that are consistent with the advancement of the mission and vision of Siena Catholic Schools of Racine.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Serves as a role model of the beliefs and teachings of the Catholic Church in word and action; provides a living example of our faith to students, families, faculty, and all who are associated with SCS schools.
  • Promotes the mission of Siena Catholic Schools of Racine, incorporating it into the daily life of the school as a visible leader in the school, student activities (clubs, athletics), and parish community.
  • Provides opportunities for the school community to celebrate its faith through regular participation in the sacramental life of the Church.
  • Collaborates with staff to give witness to the Catholic identity of the school with religious signs, symbols, and displays as well as through the celebration and/or recognition of Advent, Lent, Catholic Schools Week and other liturgical or Archdiocesan events.
  • Coordinates the daily operations of the school including, but not limited to: Field trip requests, oversight of daily attendance, oversight of curriculum and curriculum purchases, grade book review, supervision in the school cafeteria during student lunches, morning and afternoon announcements, before and after school supervisory responsibilities, bus monitoring, and student discipline.
  • Participates in regular school activities outside of regular school hours including, but not limited to: All school dances / social events, athletic event supervision as assigned at the beginning of each athletic season, Back to School Night, Fine Arts Night, Graduation, Honors Banquet, benefactor events – Black & White Ball, Golf Outing et al., Open House, parent-teacher conferences, school plays / musicals, student concerts, student retreats, and other events as directed by the Principal.
  • Assists and participates in the oversight and the evaluation of staff, the academic departments and student learning programs as assigned by the building principal; including participation in the shared responsibility of classroom observations and evaluations for all staff in conjunction with the Principal.
  • Leads, monitors and supports student academic success including collecting, analyzing, presenting and monitoring student achievement data (IXL, STAR, ACT, PreACt, Forward, Access Exams). Works and must develop a strong partnership with outside agencies that provide mentoring and coaching for student learning and staff professional learning.
  • Leads and oversees online learning and credit recovery; leads the counselors in quarterly credit and grade reviews of each student.
  • Assists with course registration and scheduling of courses.
  • Coordinates programs for recognition of student achievement for academics (Aquinas Awards) etc.
  • Collaborates with the school counselor on coordination of student success within external agency student programs such as Gateway High School Academies and other outside agencies that students attend.
  • Leads and assists with the monitoring and reviewing of academic records of new students.
  • Leads and overseas academic programming for students.
  • Provides professional learning and development for staff.
  • Serves as the Test Lead and Coordinator (STAR, ACT, AP, PreAct, Forward and Access), including facilitating, communicating, and leading the accommodations process for students.
  • Serves as the resource coordinator for student services by creating personalized learning plans, providing interventions and resources for students. This includes communicating IEP’s, 504’s and serving as the SCHS representative for these evaluations and reviews.
  • Coordinates preparation of student reviews at the conclusion of each semester.
  • Organizes necessary paperwork and forms necessary for student behavior and disciplinary issues.
  • Participates in Probation meetings (w/ Administration & Student Services).
  • Participates in Siena’s committees and additional ad-hoc committees requested by the Principal or Chief Academic Officer.
  • Leads and facilitates restorative meetings with students in collaboration with the School Counselor
  • Participates in the candidate search and interview process for new staff members, on occasion.
  • Collaborates with Administrative Assistant and other office personnel to track all student attendance, monitors tardies and works to improve student attendance. Communicates with parents and students. Creates and monitors attendance contracts.
  • Leads the student behavior support system and culture pillar by addressing all student disciplinary issues/situations/challenges through thorough investigation in consultation with the Principal. Creates executive summaries for all major disciplinary matters. Creates disciplinary contracts. Reviews disciplinary records of new students. Leads expulsion hearings. Works with local law enforcement as necessary.
  • Provides professional learning and support for staff in the areas of school culture and discipline.
  • Collaborates in the creation and execution of the School Scorecard.
  • Serves as Principal of Summer School.
  • Serves as a member of the High School Leadership Team.
  • Serves as the building administrator in the Principal’s absence.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to promote the role of Catholic faith in educational work. Practicing Catholic preferred.
  • Willingness to uphold and promote the mission, goals, and objectives of St. Catherine’s High School.
  • Relevant teaching experience at the middle and/or secondary school level.
  • Master’s degree in educational leadership and administrative licensure (or demonstrated progress toward a Master’s degree and administrative licensure)
  • Ability to support the vision and mission of Siena Catholic Schools in a positive and productive way.
  • Maintain a professional working relationship with all staff.
  • Conduct all written and verbal communication in a timely, cordial, and professional manner.
  • Provide coaching, direction, and feedback to staff members in a timely and professional manner.
  • Manage multiple priorities and establish an efficient, flexible schedule to achieve operational goals.
  • Perform all duties with a high level of accuracy and clarity.
  • Appropriate knowledge of computers and related business applications.
  • Quickly identify problems and promptly implement recommendations for solution.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and extended workdays as needed.

Basic Staff Expectations:

All Siena Catholic Schools of Racine employees and volunteers are expected to comply with the faculty/Staff Handbook and the Parent/Student Handbook. All SCS employees are expected to work positively in collaboration with others in addition to completing other tasks as assigned from time to time by their supervisor/administration.

Work Relationships & Scope

Frequent contact with school faculty and staff, students and school families. Frequent contact with SCS President, SCS Chief Academic Officer, SCS Director of Business, Parish Pastor, Other SCS or Pastoral Staff as designated Occasional interaction with other Siena colleagues. Secures the approval of the Principal in making decisions when answers are not clear and further guidance or input is needed.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; talk or hear; and use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects or controls. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 - 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment: The work takes place in primarily an office/school environment; however there is some travel and limited exposure to outside elements.
