As the Training & Development Manager, you will be responsible for the functions outlined below.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for demonstrating commitment to and leadership of environmental health and safety principles, policies and procedures.
  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of competency-based training models aligned with business goals, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
  • Build and manage the Daniel Defense Training Academy — including curriculum development, learning paths, internal certifications, and content libraries for all departments.
  • Oversee the Learning Management System (LMS), ensuring data accuracy, course accessibility, training compliance, and reporting effectiveness.
  • Partner with cross-functional leaders to assess training needs, identify skill gaps, and deliver learning solutions that improve safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Facilitate “Train-the-Trainer” initiatives to build internal training capacity through subject matter experts and designated trainers.
  • Design engaging training materials using a mix of eLearning tools, presentations, video, and instructor-led resources.
  • Establish tiered development programs for production team members, front-line leaders, salaried professionals, and executives.
  • Track and report key training KPIs; use data to evaluate training effectiveness, refine content, and optimize delivery.
  • Supervise training coordinators or team members across all shifts; ensure consistent coverage and responsiveness to plant needs.
  • Support regulatory and compliance training programs (OSHA, job-specific safety, ISO standards).
  • Serve as a partner in change management by preparing teams through targeted education and capability-building efforts.
  • Participates in the company’s efforts to continuously improve in Safety, 6S, Quality, Delivery and Productivity.
  • Expected to be a contributor to the company standards on high integrity, safety, fair and equitable treatment and a positive work environment
  • Other responsibilities as deemed appropriate or necessary by management.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Industrial Engineering, Human Resources, Organizational Development, or related field or a combination of related experience, education and/or training to sufficiently and successfully perform the essential functions of the job. .
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in training and development, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory capacity, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience developing, managing, and delivering successful training programs — including LMS administration and instructional design.
  • Strong understanding of adult learning theory, competency frameworks, blended learning, and performance-based training models.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead training teams and mentor internal subject matter experts.
  • Experience designing and implementing onboarding programs, career pathways, and skills certification systems.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and virtual presentation skills.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and project management abilities.
  • Competent with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word); experience with eLearning platforms and video training tools is a plus.
  • Self-driven, collaborative, and able to influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Work on multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities, identify and address problems, meet deadlines, and stay within budget.
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize and work with our Permission to Play Values.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift and carry awkward items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting and bending throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment, to include working in and around machinery, exposure to noise and chemicals, lights/lasers, etc.
  • Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protection Equipment as required by your position and/or Company policy.
