West Michigan Aviation Academy is currently seeking a Girls' Cross Country Coach. Position begins August 2025.

Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate Girls’ Cross Country Coach to join our team. The Girls’ Cross Country Coach will be responsible for planning, organizing, and supervising all aspects of the girls' cross country program. This position requires a passion for running and mentorship, as well as a commitment to the development of student-athletes both on and off the course. The coach will help foster a positive team culture and encourage academic success as well.
Responsibilities

Develop and implement training plans tailored to the skill levels and goals of individual athletes.

Conduct regular practices focused on improving endurance, technique, and overall performance.

Teach athletes about running strategies, pacing, and race preparation.

Organize and supervise team practices, competitions, and events in accordance with state regulations.

Coordinate transportation for away meets and manage logistics related to team events.

Maintain communication with athletes, parents, and school administration regarding schedule changes, team policies, and athlete progress.

Foster an inclusive and supportive environment that promotes teamwork and sportsmanship.

Monitor the physical and emotional well-being of athletes, providing support and guidance as needed.

Encourage academic success and personal growth among student-athletes.

Promote the cross country program within the school to attract new athletes.

Facilitate team-building activities and events to enhance team camaraderie.

Ensure that all practices and competitions adhere to safety standards and regulations.

Complete necessary paperwork and maintain records as required by the school and state athletic association.
Qualifications
-
Previous coaching experience or competitive experience in cross country or distance running is preferred.

Strong knowledge of cross country training principles, race strategies, and athletic development.

Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
