Salary: $73,000.00 to $85,000.00

Your Role as a Special Education Teacher:

  • Plan and Deliver Developmentally Appropriate Instruction- Design and implement lessons that align with Developmentally Appropriate Practice (DAP) guidelines to support each child's growth across developmental domains. Develop individualized treatment plans and learning goals using the DIRFloortime® model (Developmental, Individual-difference, Relationship-based).
  • Conduct Observations and Assessments -Administer educational assessments to evaluate students' functioning relative to their age and educational placement across five developmental domains. Use assessment data to inform instruction and support individualized learning strategies.
  • Collaborate Across Disciplines- Participate in weekly team reviews with head teachers, sharing observations, concerns, and ideas to support student progress. Work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to ensure a comprehensive approach to student development.
  • Participate in IEP Processes- Attend IEP meetings with families and classroom social workers to discuss students' current levels of functioning and contribute to the development of individualized education plans.
  • Support and Lead Classroom Teams- Meet regularly with classroom staff to address team dynamics, student needs, and instructional planning. Provide training and mentorship to teaching assistants and paraprofessionals.
    Conduct annual performance evaluations for classroom support staff.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in special education, education or a closely related field from an accredited institution with plan to continue with master's degree.
  • New York Teacher Certification.
  • Passion for Special Education through patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help students with special needs succeed.

Preferred/Nice-to-have:

  • Knowledge of DIRFloortime® is preferred, but not required.
  • Master's degree in special education.
