Summary
The Biology Department at Washington & Jefferson (W&J) College invites applicants for a three-year Visiting Assistant Professor of Biology position starting in Fall 2025. We are seeking a biologist with substantial training, comprehension, and competencies in cell, molecular, and/or microbiological laboratory techniques within the undergraduate biology curriculum. The candidate is expected to teach foundational and multi-section laboratory courses in cell & molecular biology, organismal biology, and microbiology for nursing and allied health professions; laboratory curricula are prepared and supervised by current faculty. Demonstration of experience and excellence in teaching laboratory courses for undergraduates in these areas is preferred. The candidate is also expected to teach a scientific competency course for non-majors in their preferred domain each semester. The successful candidate must provide evidence of interest in teaching and working with undergraduate students. While research activities are not expected, candidates are encouraged to maintain their personal scholarship. A Ph.D. in biology or a relevant field is expected by the time of appointment.
