A Day in the Life of a Clinical Nursing Educator

Works under the direction of the appropriate Nursing Director. Responsible for the ongoing clinical and professional development of the nursing staff. This role will focus on developing and managing simulation opportunities to enhance clinical knowledge. It will also oversee our Education expo events and help with new employee onboarding.

Here is What You Will Be Doing:

  • Accountable for role modeling proficient clinical practice, patient safety and evidence based practice.
  • Supports an environment and infrastructure that promotes professional growth. Facilitate the implementation of evidence based practice.
  • Develops and implements strategic workforce learning and development services to support the achievement of workforce goals, quality initiatives and clinical practice.
  • Critically assesses, plans, develops and delivers clinical curriculum, developmental programs and services.
  • Facilitates learning utilizing various methods including lecture/teleconference, demonstration, clinical simulation; computer based learning/ web-based e-learning application.
  • Evaluates learning effectiveness using standardized outcome measurements. Utilize performance measures and workforce needs to drive education plans and learning strategies.
  • Maintains appropriate documentation.
  • Provides leadership and oversight in the collection, review and analysis of data.
  • Identifies and acts on research opportunities.
  • Assures seamless orientation of new and/or transferring clinical staff with oversight and influence of the orientation experience.
  • Supports and develops preceptors, mentors, clinical scholars, nurse residents and advanced practice curriculum.
  • Provides clinical leadership.
  • Establishes visibility and credibility.
  • Leads and participates on assigned committees and teams. Leads up with clinical learning expertise and decision making.
  • Completes mandatory education requirements.
  • Maintains accountability towards achieving clinical competencies and workforce development goals.

Here is What You Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Education, or related field
  • Minimum of a current Wyoming Registered Nurse License or enhanced Nurse Licensure (eNLC) upon start date
  • Three (3) years of work experience in area of specialty (or equivalent area)
  • 14 Days: Cheyenne Regional AHA RQI within fourteen (14) calendar days of start date

Nice to Have:

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing, Education, or related field
  • Advanced clinical certification for assigned clinical focus
  • Two years in a position with primary responsibility for design and delivery of learning content
