Primary Responsibilities
- Provide specialized instruction in pensatory skills
- Conduct functional vision and learning media assessments
- Teach braille reading and writing systems
- Implement assistive technology solutions
- Develop orientation and mobility instruction
- Adapt educational materials for accessibility
- Collaborate with general education teachers
- Maintain accurate documentation and progress records
Service Population
Work with students experiencing various visual impairments including congenital blindness, acquired vision loss, and degenerative eye conditions. Provide support across all educational levels from early intervention through high school transition services.
Professional Requirements
- Master's degree in Visual Impairment Education or related discipline
- Active Kentucky Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification
- Minimum 2 years of specialized visual impairment instruction experience
- Strong braille and assistive technology petencies
- Virtual service delivery experience preferred
- Excellent organizational and munication skills
