Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Program Manager, the Rites of Passage Instructor teaches courses in their subject area of Rites of Passage. Work with students who are taking classes to improve their knowledge or career skills. Develop an instructional plan (known as a course outline or syllabus) for the course they teach and ensure that it meets department standards. Plan lessons and assignments.
Work with colleagues to develop or modify the curriculum. Assess students' progress by grading assignments, papers, and other work. Advise students about which classes to take and how to achieve their goals. Stay informed about changes and innovations in their field. The ability to perform highly detailed work with sustained attention and care while providing/obtaining information on numerous inquiries is paramount to success in this position. Occasional stooping. Frequent standing. Constant walking, sitting, climbing, reaching high/low levels, finger movement, feeling, speaking clearly, hearing conversationally, and seeing far and near. Ability to work effectively with a diverse community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teaching courses in their subject area of Rites of Passage
- Work with students who are taking classes to improve their knowledge or career skills

Qualifications/Requirements:
EDUCATION:
- Currently a graduate or PhD student
- Master’s degree preferred
EXPERIENCE:
- 1-2 years of experience
- Experience in education and instruction.
Compensation:
- $25 per hour
Position Status:
- Part Time, Non-Exempt

- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and data collection
- Knowledge of general office
- Ability to learn new software
- Ability to coordinate multiple

- Must be able to handle confidential and sensitive materials in a professional

Conditional Employment:
The employment status of this position is classified as “Conditional.” Conditional employment means that the job exists contingent upon continued funding and limitations of restricted funds or, the duration of a specific program, project, grant, or contract. Since your salary is funded by LA County and end date of 8/31/2025, your position is contingent upon the continued receipt of these funds. Continuation of your position is dependent, in part, upon funding availability. Furthermore, no work may be performed after the grant end date(s) unless you have received an extension in writing from a Dean, Division VP, or Human Resources.
