A school in Joliet, IL is seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Education Teacher to support a self-contained K-12 classroom. This contract position spans the academic year and provides an opportunity to work with a small caseload of 610 students in an inclusive, collaborative learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to meet each students unique needs
- Deliver differentiated instruction aligned with district curriculum and individualized goals
- Collaborate closely with the co-teacher (certified LBS1), full-time Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP), and additional support staff to maximize student progress
- Utilize strong classroom management techniques to create a positive and supportive learning atmosphere
- Participate actively in team meetings and municate effectively with administration, colleagues, and families
Qualifications:
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with an LBS1 endorsement is required
- Experience working in an elementary education setting is preferred
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
- Excellent munication skills and classroom management abilities
