Job Title: Instructional Assistant for Tier 2 and 3 Interventions

Department: Building support

Reports To: Principal

Job Type: Full-Time


Job Summary: The Instructional Assistant will support elementary students requiring Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions to enhance academic performance and social-emotional development. This role involves close collaboration with teachers, special education staff, and parents to implement individualized intervention plans that meet each student's unique needs. The Instructional Assistant will contribute to a positive learning environment that fosters student engagement and success.


Key Responsibilities


1.) Intervention

• Assist in the delivery of Tier 2 and Tier 3 intervention programs tailored to students with academic or behavioral challenges.

• Support teachers in delivering targeted literacy and math instruction, focused on individual and small-group learning.

• Use data-driven instructional techniques to reinforce reading comprehension, writing, problem-solving, and mathematical reasoning skills.


2.) Student Support and Engagement

• Work one-on-one or in small groups with students, providing academic assistance in reading, writing, and mathematics using specialized programs and resources.

• Monitor student progress, adapting teaching methods and materials to meet students' varied needs.

• Foster an inclusive and encouraging classroom atmosphere that promotes active student participation.


3.) Collaboration and Communication

• Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, and other instructional assistants to develop and adjust intervention plans based on student progress.

• Participate in team meetings, contributing insights to support student performance improvement.

• Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student prog as needed.


4.) Assessment and Data Monitoring

• Help administer and score assessments, collecting and maintaining accurate data on student progress to inform instructional decisions.

• Track and document student performance, aiding in the assessment process to identify areas requiring additional support.


5.) Classroom Management

• Assist in maintaining a safe, organized, and disciplined classroom environment conducive to learning.

• Implement classroom routines and behavior management strategies under the guidance of lead teachers to support a positive learning environment.


6.) Professional Development

• Engage in professional development to enhance instructional skills and stay informed on best practices for intervention and support strategies.

Requirements:

Qualifications

"Must have one of the following to be an HQ Paraprofessional as required by the IDOE"

• Two Years of college experience

• A two-year college degree

• Passed the Para-Pro Assessment (within the first year of Employment)

• One year of 1,000 hours or previous employment experience in a school- level evaluations

• Completed 48 credit hours of college-level classes


Working Conditions

The Instructional Assistant will primarily work in an elementary school environment, interacting with students, teachers, and parents. The role may require standing for extended periods and assisting students with various physical and academic tasks. Strong literacy and math proficiency; knowledge of current teaching strategies in these areas. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail. Basic familiarity with educational software and technology platforms
