Summary
We are looking for a full-time lead teacher in our 3-year-old classroom. We are open Monday-Friday. No weekends. Pay is negotiable and dependent on experience.
Duties
- Establishes rapport with the home through email, telephone calls, conferences, newsletters, and other means of communication using Brightwheel, and encourages parents to visit the CDC.
- Develops learning activities to meet the children’s needs. Understands not all children have the same needs.
- Shows a willingness to pursue any special needs a child may have, such as working with health clinics, child psychologists, speech therapists, etc.
- Contributes to the newsletter and website, when necessary, also writes monthly blurb for Newsletter which entails actives and lesson plans for that month.
- Keeps necessary records on student attendance, performance, and activities using Brightwheel if having a difficult time with student’s behavior.
- Communicates with administration on any curriculum changes.
- Works with the instructional staff to plan, implement, improve, and refine the CDC’s curriculum.
- Assists in opening and closing the school on a daily basis.
- Manages classroom of children and supervises the instructional assistants in appropriate age group.
- Communicates expectations and roles of each team member
- Works as a team with the instructional assistants, other teachers, and the director. If a substitute is in the classroom communicate expectations
- Assists with meals and snacks.
- Assists with setting up and putting away playground equipment.
- Keeps sidewalk and play areas clear of debris
- Neatly stores toys in the shed or storage lockers and locks them at the end of the day
- Locks all outside doors as part of the closing procedures
- If the weather looks inclement before the end of the day, clean up toys earlier to prevent them from getting
- Assists in putting children down for nap.
- Prepares room for nap and ensures all materials are stored appropriately.
- Monitors and supervises children quietly during naptime
- Uses naptime as a time to cut and prepare materials for upcoming activities and plan cooperatively with other teachers as needed
- Takes children to the restroom as they awaken from their naps and attends to any other individual needs
- Helps to put the nap mats, blankets, and other nap items away neatly
- Meets with supervisor during nap or break time to discuss classroom planning.
- Assists in potty training duties.
- Actively greets children and families.
- Talks, sings, and reads to children frequently
- Responds quickly in a soothing and tender manner when a child cries or is in distress.
Requirements
The candidates for these positions must be at least 21 years old.
Must have a bachelor's degree in education or like field
3 years' experience minimum
