A K-12 educational position is open for a Teacher of the Visually Impaired serving students in Virginia Beach, VA. This full-time itinerant role is contract-based for the 2025-2026 school year, from August 18, 2025, through May 30, 2026, with work hours from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, totaling 40 hours per week.
This position involves providing specialized instruction and support to visually impaired students across elementary through high school grades. The teacher will work closely with a caseload of diverse students, tailoring educational plans to meet individual needs. Collaboration with Orientation & Mobility specialists, Occupational Therapists, and Physical Therapists is essential to ensure prehensive service delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments and develop individualized educational plans for students with visual impairments
- Deliver specialized instruction across multiple grade levels (K-12)
- Collaborate with related service providers (O&M, OT, PT) to support student progress
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and related documentation
- Participate in team meetings and municate effectively with parents and staff
Qualifications:
- Certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired
- Experience working with K-12 visually impaired students
- Ability to manage an itinerant caseload across elementary to high school settings
- Strong collaboration and munication skills
- Knowledge of assistive technology and adaptive instructional strategies
