Work Schedule: Academic Year 7:45 - 4:00

General Description:


Career Academy Network of Public Schools is seeking a dynamic and student-centered Business Teacher to serve both middle and high school students. This educator will introduce students to the foundations of business and help them explore real-world applications in finance, entrepreneurship, marketing, and related fields.


This position offers room for creativity and curriculum innovation, allowing the teacher to shape a pathway that begins with Intro to Business and expands into advanced high school electives such as Finance, Entrepreneurship, and Business Management. The ideal candidate is passionate about preparing students for success in college, careers, and beyond.


Qualifications:

  • Valid Indiana teaching license with appropriate Business/CTE endorsement, or eligibility for licensure.
  • Experience teaching middle or high school students (preferred but not required).
  • Strong knowledge of business fundamentals, financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and technology applications.
  • Passion for working in a diverse, mission-driven, public charter school environment.
  • Willingness to innovate, take initiative, and continuously improve instructional practices.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and classroom management skills.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement engaging lessons aligned with Indiana Academic Standards and college/career readiness objectives.
  • Teach business courses to students in grades 6–12, including foundational and advanced topics.
  • Develop and adjust curriculum to reflect real-world trends, student interests, and school pathway goals.
  • Incorporate project-based learning, simulations, and technology to deepen student understanding.
  • Build a classroom culture that supports curiosity, innovation, collaboration, and responsibility.
  • Assess student learning using varied methods and use data to inform instruction.
  • Collaborate with school leadership and colleagues to align content with the school’s vision and student needs.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and progress.
  • Communicate regularly with families and support staff to ensure student success.

School Activities:


All CANoPS staff are required to attend and/or participate in such other activities as directed by the Administrator such as: faculty meetings (before or after school hours), open houses, commencement exercises, chaperone student activities, provide guidance for students, participate on faculty committees, study, and help resolve school problems.


Essential Skills and Abilities:


Must demonstrate foundational professionalism, including consistent attendance, punctuality, adherence to school policies and procedures, and strong employability skills. These are considered essential, non-negotiable expectations of the role.
