Mother Seton School, a pre-K - grade 8 Catholic school located in Emmitsburg, MD and sponsored by the Daughters of Charity, is seeking a Math teacher beginning August 18, 2025. Math grades 6-8.

Faith Formation and Christian Community

Share the responsibility to form a Catholic Christian community imbued with the Vincentian Spirit among parents, staff, and students.

Participate in and support the faith practices of the school such as school wide times of prayer and faith formation. Initiate means to make our faith life visible to students and the school community appropriate for your position in the school.

Complete required catechist training "Equip for Ministry as stipulated in annual Professional Development schedule

Bring to the attention of students the Christian and Vincentian foundation for such attitudes and behaviors as respect, courtesy, cooperation, personal hygiene and clean attire, care of personal belongings and school property.

Curriculum and Instruction

Implement Archdiocesan Course of Study adapted to Mother Seton School students for your grade and subject.

Prepare unit and/or daily lessons taking into consideration the abilities of the students and curriculum standards for subject. Complete written lesson plans prior to the daily instruction

Differentiate instruction, implementing accommodations and providing for advanced students as possible with the given resources of the classroom and school.

Establish expectations and rubrics for student performance in line with curriculum standards for the subject and grade. Utilize a variety of assessment practices to assess student attainment of grade level expectations.

Establish norms for work and handwriting quality and provide continual opportunities to display current and varied curriculum work of all students.

Maintain accurate and up to date records of student assessment and input data in a timely manner to keep parents informed and for production of interim and trimester reports.

Work with administration and staff to establish and communicate school-wide and classroom, /unit rules of conduct, discipline and homework policies. Support agreed upon rules of conduct, discipline codes, homework policies implementing agreed upon consequences consistently.

Bring to the attention of the Principal or Learning Center Director any serious emotional, disciplinary or academic needs of students

Provide consistent feedback to parents and maintain communication with them regarding student's academic progress and personal development. Be available to parents for conferences as necessary or requested and participate in the school-wide parent conference days. Initiate additional communication with parents as necessary.

Planning & Implementing School Improvement Programs

Implement Mother Seton School Professional Improvement Plan especially in your areas of instruction.

Participate in Archdiocesan and school sponsored in-service programs as applies to your grade and subjects. Implement the strategies suggested for follow-up as appropriate.

Be available to serve as appropriate for your position on committees to plan and implement school-wide improvement programs and projects.

Mother Seton School Community

Support the parents, staff, and students of Mother Seton School Community by establishing and promoting positive school climate, engaging in positive language and constructive action on behalf of the school as a whole.

Assume responsibility for active participation as a member or leader of committees for school-wide or unit programs, events, or extra-curricular activities as needed.

Attend school functions which occur outside the school day as outlined on staff calendars and notices.

Non-instructional Responsibilities

Provide consistent and vigilant supervision for all students for whom you are responsible.

Share the responsibility for supervision of students as indicated on staff calendars and schedules.

Assume duties of a non instructional nature as indicated in the Staff Handbook and other staff notices.

Fostering Professional Excellence

Maintain required certification from the Maryland State Department of Education for your area of teaching.

Participate in the staff performance appraisal process as indicated in the staff handbook and other staff notices.

Be willing to accept suggestions and recommendations from the principal and/or peers to foster continual professional growth and to improve the teaching/learning process.

Be present for orientation days and professional days scheduled prior to the opening of the school year whether full or half day. Remain in school as many days after the official closing as scheduled to effectively fulfill the duties for the "End of the Year Procedures."

Attend all faculty and unit meetings and those curriculum meetings agreed upon.

Adhere to the schedule for teacher working hours: 8:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Monday- Friday

Abide by protocol for signing in and out on workdays and for handling absences as described in the Staff Handbook.

Knowledge and Experience

Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred. State certification required within three years of hire.


Salary is $46,694 annually with medical, dental, vision benefits, paid sick leave, and retirement.
