A Special Education teaching opportunity is available for the Extended School Year (ESY) program in Alexandria, VA. This contract position offers valuable experience working with students from kindergarten through 12th grade and provides a chance to renew for the 2025-2026 academic year.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
- Active Virginia Special Education teaching license required
- Experience working with a diverse range of students from elementary to secondary levels
- Strong classroom management and individualized instruction skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with educational teams and families
Location:
- Alexandria, Virginia
Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction to students eligible for special education services during the ESY program
- Implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to student needs
- Deliver lessons for 5 to 5.5 hours daily, varying by grade level (elementary: 5 hours; secondary: 5.5 hours)
- Participate in required preparation days prior to the program start (July 1, 2, and half-day July 3)
- Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly
- Maintain munication with families and support staff to promote student success
Schedule:
- ESY Program runs from July 7 to August 1
- Preparation days on July 1, 2, and 3 (half-day session)
