An educational opportunity is available for a skilled Teacher specializing in Deaf and Hard of Hearing students to support K-12 learners in Chicago, IL. This is a contract position for the duration of the school year (NSY), providing a structured environment to make a meaningful impact within a dynamic learning munity.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized instructional plans tailored to the unique needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Utilize specialized teaching strategies and assistive technology to enhance munication and learning outes
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including speech therapists, audiologists, and general education teachers to promote inclusive education
- Monitor and assess student progress, adapting instructional approaches accordingly
- Foster an inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages student engagement and confidence
- Maintain accurate documentation and municate regularly with families regarding student progress and needs
Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification in Deaf and Hard of Hearing education or related field
- Experience working with K-12 students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Strong knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) and other munication methodologies
- Ability to create adaptive lesson plans that address varied learning styles and abilities
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and munication skills
