This full-time, onsite role is for a mental health school social worker or licensed mental health professional providing therapy services to students in a K-12 school setting. The position is based in Avoca, Iowa, with a weekly schedule split across three school locations, supporting a PK-12 caseload and serving 6-8 students daily.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with educators, AEA staff, and community agencies to support student academic, social, emotional, and behavioral success.
- Conduct identification and assessment of student needs, including social, emotional, behavioral, and adaptive challenges.
- Deliver direct intervention services such as individual and group counseling, crisis management, and behavior strategies.
- Serve as a liaison between home, school, and community resources to coordinate comprehensive support for students and families.
- Provide consultation, coaching, and modeling of strategies to school personnel.
- Facilitate communication and partnerships among educators, parents, and community providers.
- Utilize research to inform practices and conduct action research on applied issues.
- Administer and interpret various assessments related to student well-being and adjustment.
Qualifications:
- Master of Social Work (M.S.W.) degree from a Council on Social Work Education accredited program or equivalent mental health masters degree.
- Licensure as a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW), Licensed Masters Social Worker (LMSW), or equivalent mental health professional recognition by the Iowa Department of Health or Education.
- For mental health professionals, at least two years of supervised post-degree clinical experience in mental health assessment and intervention.
- School Social Work Endorsement or Statement of Professional Recognition from the Iowa Department of Education.
- Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and manage a caseload efficiently.
