What You Need to Know:
Job Title: Lead House Mentors
Location: Lee or Collier County, Florida
Reports To: Safe House Program Operations Manager
Schedule: One week on, one week off rotation
Position Summary
The Lead House Mentors are essential to Path2Freedom's Safe House Program, providing direct care and support to female teen survivors in a faith-based safe house setting. This role requires a married couple committed to trauma-informed care principles while maintaining a nurturing, structured environment. Working in our unique rotation model (one week on, one week off), House Mentors collaborate with teachers, case coordinators, and relief mentors to ensure consistent, quality care for our residents.
Key Responsibilities
Direct Care & Support
- Create a safe, structured, and nurturing home environment
- Support residents with daily needs including food, safety, family communications, and optimal wellbeing
- Assist with life skills development (banking, budgeting, housekeeping, hygiene)
- Transport residents to appointments, activities, church, work and family visits
- Maintain house rules and schedules while fostering community engagement
- Work collaboratively with DCF Team and external partners when on property
- Provide a Christ-centered living environment that is both compassionate and disciplined
- Extend compassion and grace to our residents as they wrestle with the effects of complex trauma
Trauma-Informed Care
- Implement Christ-centered, trauma-informed practices in daily interactions
- Utilize non-punitive behavior management techniques
- Practice de-escalation and crisis intervention when needed
- Support emotional regulation and healing
- Create opportunities for healthy relationship modeling
Documentation & Communication
- Maintain accurate records in case management system
- Participate in service plan development and implementation
- Communicate effectively with staff, residents, and external agencies
- Document progress, incidents, and concerns
- Attend team meetings and training sessions
Home Management
- Ensure clean, safe, and well-maintained living environment
- Oversee household operations and maintenance needs
- Manage daily schedules and routines
- Oversee horse and house chores
- Coordinate with relief mentors during transitions
Qualifications
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license and a clean drivers record
- Ability to pass comprehensive background checks
- Strong commitment to trauma-informed care principles
- Experience working with vulnerable populations
- Faithful, available, and teachable spirit
- Physical ability to meet job demands
- Strong emotional maturity and boundaries
Preferred
- Experience in residential care or group home settings
- Background in crisis intervention and de-escalation
- Experience working with trauma survivors
- Related certifications or training
