Summary

Position Title: Early Learning Coach Consultant for Grays Harbor, Mason and Thurston Counties
Reports to: Early Learning Consultation Manager/Lead
Office Location: TBD
Status: Non-Exempt, Full Time, Hourly
Salary Range: The starting range for this position is typically $27.20-33.04 per hour. A wage enhancement of $1.00/hour will be added to the pay rate for the regular use of Spanish in this position. An additional .50/hour (beyond that) is added for the regular use of an additional language beyond English and Spanish.

Duties

About the job:
This position's primary focus is in providing comprehensive and varied coaching supports to a caseload of around 20-25 licensed childcare sites located primarily in Grays Harbor, Mason and Thurston counties. Coach consultation is relationship based, provider driven and implemented within WA State's Early Achievers Quality Recognition Framework. Supports are individualized and may include modeling, observation/feedback cycles, behavior guidance, business and leadership guidance, resource linking, etc.Expertise in early learning and/or child development is key to success in this role as is having a mindset that is flexible, curious and solutions focused. Our coach work is grounded in transformational and equitable approaches and outcomes. Strong organizational and time management skills are critical. This position will require in person work at childcare sites along with other virtual supports and admin tasks that can be performed at home or at the closest CCAC office location. There is an expectation of some regularly scheduled in person office presence.

Responsibilities of this position:
Provide ongoing and individualized coach consultant services to Early Achievers participants using a racial equity/social justice mindset
Successfully managing a caseload of 20-25 licensed childcare sites to include both in person and virtual support
Understand and assist providers in navigating all aspects of the Early Achievers Quality Recognition Framework
Work in partnership with providers to create individualized goals and quality improvement plans
Recognize high- and low-quality interactions and environments; deliver content and resources for growth and learning; monitor and support program progess
Model and incorporate reflective practice with providers
Promote resiliency and stress management
Accurately document work in a timely manner using designated data systems
Collaborate successfully with peers and community partners
Attend trainings, meetings and webinars hosted by CCA of WA/other partners
Primary travel around the Olympic Peninsula region will cover a 3 county range of Grays Harbor, Mason and Thurston counties.
Maintain provider, family and child confidentiality

They have a solid understanding of child development and developmentally appropriate practice. This person is open to collaboration, working well in partner/team situations and will sensitively support clients of diverse cultures and perspectives. This person is also comfortable working independently, with an ability to navigate change, manage a variety of tasks and problem solve in the moment. Our ideal candidate is someone who is always looking to learn, grow and improve their practice.

Requirements

Qualifications:
A.A. in Early Childhood Education or a related field
Knowledge of birth to 5 development and developmentally appropriate practice and experience implementing this knowledge
2 years working with children 0-5 in a group setting
Professional experience coaching or mentoring others, preferably in the field of early learning
Experience in/understanding of a relationship-based approach to delivering quality customer service
The ability to apply a social justice and racial equity lens to the work
Demonstrated observational skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent listening skills with the ability to give and receive critical feedback
Ability to creatively problem solve in a dynamic and fluid work environment
Ability to work independently, often on multiple tasks each day while able to shift focus to meet emergent needs
Knowledge of local early learning, family, and child resources
Ability to contribute effectively in a team environment
Commitment to maintaining confidentiality according to professional standards
Ability to maintain professional working relationships with childcare providers, community partners and program stakeholders
Experience using a computer for communication, and documentation; ability to maintain timely documentation/data entry into an electronic data system

Other things to know:
Our coach consultant must:

  • Be able to work occasional night and weekend hours
  • Have reliable internet service
  • Successfully pass a thorough background check
  • Be willing to abide by Washington State law as a mandatory reporter of child abuse and neglect
  • Hold a current, valid driver's license
  • Have reliable personal transportation and vehicle liability insurance; Note: We reimburse mileage in accordance with our policies
