Soliant Education is seeking a qualified and dedicated Special Education Teacher to join a K-5 Life Skills classroom nearHope, Maine, for the 2025-2026 school year. This is a full-time, onsite contract position serving students with severe or multiple cognitive disabilities.
Position Details:

Dates: August 25, 2025 June 10, 2026

Hours: 8:15 AM 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday

Caseload: 12 students
-
Support Staff: 7 Ed Techs (paraprofessionals) in the classroom

Grade Level: K-5

Population: Severe/Multiple Disabilities (Cognitive)
Responsibilities:

Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each students unique needs
-
Adapt curriculum to support cognitive, functional, and life skills instruction
-
Collaborate with paraprofessionals, therapists, and administrators to support student learning
-
Maintain documentation on student progress and municate regularly with families
-
Create and maintain a safe, structured, and supportive classroom environment
Requirements:
-
Valid Maine Special Education Certification 282, or the ability to obtain via out-of-state reciprocal equivalent

Experience working with students who have severe or multiple cognitive disabilities preferred

Strong classroom management and munication skills

Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
pensation:

Hourly Rate: $30 $42, depending on experience and qualifications
